William A. “Bud” Dean, Jr.
William A. “Bud” Dean, Jr., 88, of Strasburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 21, 2016. He was the husband of Ruth (Landis) Dean for 63 years.
Born in Delaware County, he was the son of William A., Sr. and Lydia (Wright) Dean. He was a graduate of Upper Darby High School.
Bud’s joys in life were faith, family, farming, and politics. He was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster.
A lifelong farmer, his hobby was his occupation. He grew produce to sell at Germantown Farmer’s Market. Bud was Lancaster County 4H Beef Leader for 40 years and was active in the Lancaster County Farm Bureau. He was on the board of directors for the West Lampeter Community Fair, a committeeman for the Republican Committee, and a member of the Strasburg Township Planning Commission.
In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by a son, Gary, husband of Joan (Nissley) of Strasburg; a daughter, Michelle, wife of Ken Winters, of Strasburg; three granddaughters; and a brother, James W. Dean, of Cresco, IA. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael, and two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Hower and Elizabeth Mae “Betsy” Burnham.
There will be a viewing on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Bachman Funeral Home, 7 South Decatur St., Strasburg, PA. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery will be private.
