On June 6, 1944, 75 years ago today — 156,000 Allied troops landed on the coast of Normandy on a quest to liberate Europe from the Nazis. The Allied invasion would be forever known as D-Day.
Today, we honor all those who stormed the beaches and those who landed behind enemy lines, including the 2,500 Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice on D-Day.
