Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner Thursday chose a Mountain Top trucking and topsoil business to announce his plan to “empower Pennsylvania’s economy” — a jobs policy he said will cut taxes, reduce regulations, and harness economic potential.

Wagner, 63, released his detailed, substantive plan to improve the economy and create jobs in Pennsylvania at Dotzel Trucking and Top Soil in Slocum Township — a family-run business since 1978.

Wagner said his plan will eliminate burdensome regulations that hold businesses back from growing and expanding, lower taxes on employers so they can hire more workers, bring accountability and certainty to the permitting process and capitalize on the natural resources Pennsylvania has at her disposal.

Norb Dotzel, owner of Dotzel Trucking and Topsoil, said Wagner knows what it’s like to run a small business and he knows what is needed.

“Scott Wagner will bring an entrepreneurial spirit to Harrisburg,” Dotzel said.

“He has built multiple businesses from the ground up and offers Pennsylvania vision and leadership. For decades, Harrisburg has taken an adversarial position toward Pennsylvania’s business community,” Dotzel added.

“Scott and (Lieutenant Governor candidate) Jeff Bartos are promising to turn Pennsylvania’s government into a business-friendly, customer-oriented enterprise,” he continued. “Their proposals will support workers and business owners by growing our skilled labor force and empowering job creators. With Scott and Jeff implementing their plan, I am excited for the future of my business.”

Wagner said Pennsylvania has the potential to be a major economic powerhouse. He said Gov. Wolf has not implemented any economic policies or plans leading to growth for Pennsylvania.

“From energy, transportation, agriculture and manufacturing, Pennsylvania can achieve maximum growth when robust infrastructure is available for our businesses and residents,” Wagner said.

Scott Wagner, the Republican nominee for governor, criticized tax and regulation burdens on businesses in Pennsylvania during an event Thursday to detail his plans on improving the state’s economy.

Wagner said the state’s economy was “lagging behind the national economy” and praised President Donald Trump’s approach to cutting taxes and regulations.

Wagner went to Dotzel Trucking & Topsoil to tout his plans to “eliminate unnecessary regulatory burdens” and implement tax policies that “encourage new business growth” and support businesses that invested in Pennsylvania.

The Republican is trying to unseat Gov. Top Wolf, and he said he wants to immediately lower and phase down the state’s corporate net income tax.
